  • The Stay

    Your inspiring work place

Light, well-equipped studio in a charming Mediterranean sea-side village

Rise 2020 is nestled in the port town of beautiful Saint-Raphaël, near several other exciting places: the historic port town of Fréjus with its Roman ruins, the Côte d’Azur & a mountainous area called l’Esterel, where hikers & nature lovers thrive. Beach lovers will also be in sandy heaven, gazing at the red rocks & the intense azure skies of the Mediterranean. The outdoors is easily accessible, by foot, bicycle, car & public transport.

The studio is located in a tranquil residential area of Saint-Raphaël, a 2-minute walk to the nearest bus stop, a 5-minute walk to a hardware store, organic market & bakery, and a 25-minute walk to the "Centre Ville" (town centre).

    Outstanding food & local markets

    • During the residency, lunches will be served three times a week. The days will vary, based on outings and events.
    • All food is prepared with the freshest of ingredients & served at a central table for everyone to share.
    • Coffee & tea are available in the studio throughout the day.
    • There is a microwave oven & an organic market within a five-minute walk.

    Outstanding natural & cultural heritage

    • The studio boasts a beautiful north-western light from the wall of windows.
    • There is plenty of nearby parking & stores for organic & regular food.
    • The atmosphere is easy-going & a typical weekday starts at 9:00 in the studio. We break for lunch between 12:30 & 1:30 pm & continue till 5 pm.
    • Residents are welcome to use studios after hours & on weekends, but without the assistance of Lauren.
    • Core studio values are creativity, friendship, kindness, respect, humour, growth, cleanliness & a positive attitude!

    Lodging to suit your lifestyle

    • RISE 2020 does not offer accommodation. There are over a dozen BnB’s located close to the IARE studio in Saint-Raphaël.
    • Rental accommodation is easily available for reasonable prices at this time of year. Expect to pay between €500 & €700 for a studio to a one-bedroom apartment.
    • We will send you a list of recommendations & facilitate appartment shares between participants.

    Outstanding natural & cultural heritage

The program has been designed such that you have the weekends free to explore this beautiful area at your own pace. A treasure-chest of natural & cultural riches, the French Riviera & surrounding Var region offers you amazing museums, monuments, fresh produce markets, vineyards & much more.

Depending on your inclination & enthusiasm, you spend a day walking on the beach or meandering through villages, exploring the unique architecture of the region. This area is considered part of the Alpes-Maritimes, and one can see the French Alps from almost everywhere. The lower mountains are about a 45-minute car ride & the peaks can be accessed within 2 hours.
